Roche Pharma's Customized Team-Building Expedition in Bangkok
Roche Pharma’s team reached out to us for the third consecutive year, eager to organize their team-building event at Roche Polaris 2024. This time, Bangkok was their chosen destination. With their usual diligence, they approached us two months in advance, and after numerous discussions and brainstorming sessions, we collaboratively designed the “Everest Challenge” activity tailored specifically for them. On January 30th, we embarked on our journey to Bangkok to deliver one of our most impactful sessions yet, completely curated to meet the unique needs and objectives of Roche Pharma.
Despite not meeting their goals in the previous year, the team remained determined to nurture their potential and strive for excellence. Thus, the chosen theme was “Good to Great.”
Recognizing the vast potential of the Indian market within Roche Global, the client emphasized the pivotal role of the upcoming year as an inflection point for Roche Pharma, with ambitious targets set forth. They expressed a need for our session to address key questions: How can we instill an exponential thinking mindset within our team? How can we facilitate a shift in their mindset? Additionally, they want to bring in a disruptive approach, a bias for action, and a sense of urgency to accelerate progress.
The journey began with sourcing materials in the bustling streets of Bangkok—a daunting task in an unfamiliar environment. Despite the challenges, we persisted, engaging in numerous brainstorming sessions with the client until the day before our departure. Through long hours spent in the office, we meticulously crafted a plan we were confident would not only meet but exceed their objectives.
Multiple prototypes were meticulously constructed to ensure a seamless integration of all elements. While we had previously developed a 3-tier Pyramid comprising 19 smaller Pyramids, this project marked our inaugural venture into crafting a 4-tier, 16-foot Pyramid, incorporating a staggering 43 smaller Pyramids.
Before fostering a mindset shift within the client team, it was essential for our own team to undergo a transformational shift—a conviction that this ambitious endeavor was not only feasible but could be executed with compelling precision.
Our vision took shape in the form of a 16-foot Pyramid Structure, symbolizing their Everest—their Big, Hairy, Audacious Goal (BHAG) for the year. This structure became more than just a physical representation; it encapsulated their “Why” and provided a platform for the team to visually articulate the “What” and “How” of achieving their goals.
Amidst our discussions, safety remained paramount—strategizing how to ascend and securely place the smaller pyramids within the grand structure. As the project unfolded, it culminated beautifully with participants conquering their own Everest, realizing the untapped potential awaiting discovery.
